ROY’S CAFE ORIGINAL PAINTING

1 920 $

ROY’S CAFÉ.  16″ X 20″ original acrylic on masonite board painting. You’ll find ROY’S CAFE, along with the rest of ROY’S MOTEL & CAFE right off of Route 66, as the Mother Road as it makes its way west through California’s Mojave Desert. Opened in 1938 by Roy Crowl. Crowl and his wife Velma stopped in Amboy in 1924 on their way to Los Angeles. Their car broke down in Amboy and Mr. Crowl wasn’t able to pay for the repairs. After working as a mechanic and Velma working as a cook, Mr. Crowl saw an opportunity. He bought four acres in Amboy and started bulding what would later become one of the most famous and iconic rest stops in America. Roy and his son and law built the cafe and service station and a garage after that.
