The Acoma Pueblo, also called “Sky City”, which sits atop a 367 foot mesa sixty miles west of Albuquerque, New Mexico, is part of the San Esteban del Rey mission, within the Acoma Indian Reservation. The Acoma Pueblo is one of the longest continuously inhabited settlements in North America. The community has lived there for more than 1200 years, seeking, and finding, protection from Navajo and Apache raids. What makes the pueblo even more unique is the lack of adobe in its construction, with many brick buildings on tha mesa.
