12″ X 16″ ST. FRANCIS DI ASIS ADOBE oil on masonite board original painting and wall art. The back end of the San Francisco de Asis Mission Church at the Rancho de la Taos might even be painted and photographed more than the front of the church. It’s almost got that ‘Left Twix’ ‘Right Twix’ thing going on. The back of the chapel has been immortalized by artists such as Georgia O’Keefe and photographer Ansel Adams. The church was built in 1720 by the Franciscan Fathers, with a little help from the Spanish Colonial government and a lot of free Native American labor. As a National Historic Landmark, the San Francisco Di Asis is still an active parish and part of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe.
