
CHACO DOORWAY 2 Step into the past when you explore the Chaco Canyon National Historic Park. The stone framed doorways of the Pueblo Bonito ruins in Chaco Canyon are part of a pre-Columbian structure that was several stories tall and contained as many as eight hundred rooms. This major complex was planned and built in stages between AD 850 to AD 1150 by the Puebloan people. This was the center of their world. This civilization had no known written language, yet its buildings and structures are is arranged in an elaborate pattern resembling a celestial calendar. For over 300 years a diverse population lived and thrived within its sphere of influence.
