TAOS PUEBLO ORIGINAL PAINTING

924 $

TAOS PUEBLO 11″ X 14″ oil on wood panel. Long before Columbus discovered the New World and way before Europe stumbled out of the dark ages, people were living in the Taos Valley in northern New Mexico. Established in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. Home to the Taos speaking Native American tribe of Puebloan People. It is a member of the Eight Northern Pueblos. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Sight, the Taos Pueblo is the longest continuously inhabited residential structure in North America and is also one of the most photographed (and painted) buildings on the planet. The adobe walls are often several feet thick. The spiritual practices of the Pueblans are kept private, though the four main religions observed are the traditional Kiva, the Peyote movement, Roman Catholicism, and a small Baptist group. Not surprising, there are many prominent artists from the Pueblo, like painter Antoniao Archuleta, Albert Lujan and Eve Mirabal.
