GRAND CANYON DAWN

1 920 $

GRAND CANYON DAWN 16” X 20” original acrylic on Masonite board wall art 2025. Another northern Arizona morning finds the mighty Colorado River carving its way through the Grand Canyon, all 277 miles of the canyon, day in, day out, just like it’s been doing for the last six million years. The Grand Canyon is more than a mile deep and is part of the Colorado River Basin. After the Colorado nourishes the agricultural fields in southwestern Arizona and California’s Imperial Valley it flows into the Gulf of Baja California. It’s one of nature’s most enduring works of art.

GRAND CANYON DAWN 16” X 20” original acrylic on Masonite board wall art 2025. It is impossible to talk about the Grand Canyon without talking about the Colorado River. Its the fifth longest river in the Unitee States but it drains a watershed comprised of seven U.S. states and two Mexican states. Starting in the Rocky Mountains near Granby, the river flows down the mountains across the Colorado Plateau and through the Grand Canyon before it reaches Lake Mead on the Arizona Nevada border. There it turns south toward Yuma, Arizona and the international border. The river is a vital water source for more than 40 million people. Long before the Colorado’s heavy flow and steep downward gradient provided hydroelectric power to millions of residents in the American southwest, it carved The Grand Canyon for thast six million years. After the Colorado nourishes the agricultural fields in southwestern Arizona and California’s Imperial Valley it flows into the Gulf of Baja California. But that’s only skratching the surface.
