ROY’S MOTEL & CAFE LARGE CANVAS PRINT

800 $

ROY’S MOTEL & CAFÉ 30” X 40” giclee fine art print on stretched canvas. One of the most famous roadside landmarks along Route 66, Roy’s Motel & Cafe in Amboy, California is one of the most visited stops along the Mother Road. And now you can own this painstakingly reproduced life sized canvas print of the original 30″ X 40 painting of Roy’s Motel & Cafe. At one time Amboy had a population of 700. From the 1950’s until 1972, Roy’s Motel & Cafe enjoyed it’s “Motel Era”, when business was booming and motel beds were full. But in 1972 Interstate 40 opened and bypassed Route 66 and the town of Amboy. Roy himself lamented “Business went dow to zero!”  Roy’s was later sold to philanthropist Albert Okura. Roy’s is currently experiencing a comeback with a restoration of the cafe and plans to have the motel bungalows open for business soon. All Jim Doody Art Store fine art prints are reproduced on acid-free archival paper with non fading pigmented inks. Just like Roy’s Motel & Cafe, this print will never fade.

Roy’s is an example of roadside, Mid-Century Modern Googie architecture. During Roy’s boom town days, Roy’s employed 70 people and Amboy had a population of 700. 1959 brought the erection of Roy’s famous 50 foot neon boomerang sign, which can be seen for miles.
